The City Plaza Shopping Mall is one of the largest shopping Malls in Hong Kong and is easily one of the most spacious and least congested. Historically, the tai Koo Shing estate was once the site of the Taikoo dockyards, in the early twentieth century, Taikoo had a 750 ft. long dry dock that was fully equipped for building and repairing Ships, today, this space has become nothing but an underground carpark. The Dock was originally owned and operated by Butterfield and Swire, later when the dockyard was moved in the 1970’s, the Tai Koo Shing estate was developed by Swire Properties and was one of the first major private housing estates in Hong Kong and this achievement quickly catapulted Swire properties’ status as a major contender in real estate development in Hong Kong.
