In Hong Kong for emergencies call:

Stay calm and state your full address and condition of the patient, if possible contact the management of your apartment building to ensure an expeditious access to your floor.

Upon administering aid, the ambulance will immediately take the patient to the nearest public hospital with Accident and Emergency services unless otherwise instructed.

Currently Hong Kong has 16 public hospitals that provide 24 hour Accident and Emergencies (A&E) Services, for the full list of A&E services closest to your property follow the link.

Other than the government ambulance service, you can also call St. John's Ambulance, a charitable organisation that also provides a free 24 hour ambulance service, for Hong Kong Island they can be reached at 2576-6555 and in Kowloon 2713-5555.

Note: Doctors in Hong Kong can speak fluent English and for admission purposes or a doctor’s appointment it is advised to bring the patient’s Hong Kong ID card or Passport. Also find out if your company offers an adequate insurance plan and the scope of the cover, if not provided, private insurance can be easily obtained.

Public Hospitals and Clinics

The Hospital Authority of Hong Kong (a statutory body) manages 41 public hospitals and institutions, they also run 48 specialist Out-Patient Clinics and 74 General Out-patient Clinics. “Out-Patient” meaning no hospitalization is required. Services are organised in clusters and serve 7 particular areas in Hong Kong. A list of public services can be found here:

Private Hospitals

Most expatriates will prefer a private hospital as most of them provide a more specialised service, more attentive care, and higher grade facilities that are less congested, albeit at a price. If hospitalisation is required, call them in advance as the availability of beds can be limited, most private hospitals can allow for 1 person to stay in the same room of the patient overnight.

Private hospitals provide both Out-Patient and In-Patient services, a list of Private Hospitals in Hong Kong can be found on the Private Hospitals Association of Hong Kong website here: Private Hospitals in Hong Kong - Private Hospitals Association.

Private Doctors or General Practitioners (GP)

Other than the Out-Patient services provided by Hospitals and Clinics you can find a list of all registered Doctors “by area” from the webpage provided by the Hong Kong Medical Association, HK Doctors by Area and “by a specific district” provided by www.2choose.cc, HK Doctors by district.
